About the author
Nonny MacKay was born and bred in small-town Texas, where everybody knows everybody, family is complicated, stories travel faster than the truth, and there is always at least one character in town nobody could make up if they tried.
She writes about the places, people, humor, heartache, friendships, family ties, and everyday chaos she knows best. Her stories are rooted in the Texas she grew up with—small towns, strong women, stubborn men, long memories, loud families, and people who will show up when it matters, even if they complain the whole way there.
After a lifetime of collecting stories, watching people, and learning that real life is usually stranger and funnier than fiction, Nonny finally began putting those observations on the page. The names may have been changed to protect the not-so-innocent.
She writes with affection for the people and places that shaped her, a healthy appreciation for human foolishness, and the firm belief that women do not stop being interesting just because they have a few miles on them. "Life doesn't end at forty-five and neither does the adventure" is more than her tagline--it is a deeply held belief.
